Gladstone “Gladdy” Anderson, a true legend of Jamaican music, presents a 20-track album including dub versions of his own songs. A versatile musician, Gladdy recorded classic albums throughout the 1960s and 1970s, both as a solo artist and a sought-after session player.
In the 1980s, he joined the Roots Radics Band and began producing his own material, including albums released through Overheat. His vocal LP Sings Songs For Today and Tomorrow is now reissued alongside the dub counterpart Radical Dub Session, both regarded as among the finest work of the Radics and Gladdy’s own vocal recordings.
Releases originally on Jahmani and Solid Groove have come to be appreciated for their quality, though underrecognized at the time.
This project, in collaboration with Only Roots, offers a rare opportunity to preserve and share this music - and calls for more label cooperation to satisfy the growing passion for these overlooked gems.
