Dancehall was always worldly, but Sean Paul helped it go global. The handclap rhythms of songs like "Get Busy" proved as irresistible in Sweden as they were in Jamaica. Kingston-born Paul became an international star with Dutty Rock, an LP balancing uptempo dance records with rocksteady throwbacks like "I'm Still In Love With You". The influence went both ways: “How Deep Is Your Love", a melancholic 2012 duet with Kelly Rowland, sets a syncopated beat under soul-stirring EDM. But whatever the setting, this singer's instantly recognisable croak is a sure signal that you're about to dance.
